Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, alongside many other organisations, is working toward the Government’s goal that New Zealand be smokefree by 2025 – with a smoking prevalence of less than 5% of the population. Our contribution to this change focuses on key audiences – young adults and youth, with a particular emphasis on Māori.

Smokefree metal signs for outdoor use only.
Orders up to a maximum of 4 signs (smokefree and auahi kore combined) will be automatically approved. If you require more than 4 free signs you will be emailed a justification form to complete. That form is to be returned to the smokefree team at smokefree@tewhatuora.govt.nz for consideration.

Specifications: Rectangular metal sign for outdoor use only. Small screw hole in each corner and one on each long edge. 600mm x 150mm.

Stickers for schools, kura, ECEs and kōhunga
All schools, kura, ECEs, and kōhanga reo are required to display a notice stating that smoking and vaping within the premises is forbidden at all times.
These notices must be prominently displayed at or immediately inside:
- every entrance to the premises
- every entrance to every building or enclosed area on the premises, excluding buildings and areas not usually in use.
These locations are the same as previously required for Smokefree notices under the Smoke-free Environments Act. The 'vapefree' notices are intended to be displayed along with existing 'smokefree' notices.
The stickers are available here are for use on windows facing out. Each sheet contains two stickers, one in te reo Māori and one in English. They are not intended for placement in an external environment.
The size of each sticker is 97 x 87mm.
Harm Reduction Messaging for Retailers
Retailers may display approved information that relates to vaping being a less harmful alternative to smoking. This resource meets the legal requirements and contains approved messaging. This also contains a QR code that when scanned links people to stop smoking services.
If you would like to help people in your community to quit smoking, you can order a poster for your premises.
Maximum order 1 per retailer.

The Let's Clear the Air booklet provides information on youth vaping and ways to support the vapefree and smokefree kaupapa in schools. It is for school staff, youth workers, whānau and students.

Play Your Best Card - take home pamphlet (Pack of 30 )
This pack of 30 pamphlets are to replenish the Play Your Best Card game and are not intended for use separate from the game.
The pamphlets are to encourage participants to reflect on their conversations after playing Play Your Best Card, a team-based game that encourages teens to have conversations on a range of topics relevant to young people.

Play Your Best Card is a team-based, facilitated game designed to spark meaningful conversations among teens about real-life situations and challenges. It encourages critical thinking, supports open discussions, and helps raise awareness of youth support organisations.
Facilitation is essential to ensure the game’s purpose is achieved—empowering young people to talk about issues affecting them now or in the future.
Important: Please do not request this game for giveaways, conferences, or events. Due to high production costs, we only distribute it to our intended audience.
