Skin Cancer Prevention
Skin cancer prevention and early detection work at Te Whatu Ora aims to increase:
- individual knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to manage exposure to ultraviolet radiation that causes damage
- environmental and policy support to protect people from ultraviolet radiation that causes harm, including workplaces (eg councils), recreational and sporting organisations, and primary healthcare organisations
- the quality and effectiveness of skin cancer prevention and early detection messages.
To achieve these goals, we work opportunistically with media outlets (television, radio, print), councils, workplaces, sports/recreational organisations, community groups, and the skin cancer control sector to both support their work and help deliver consistent messages across New Zealand.
